A properly fabricated 2–3 mm PETG nightguard generally lasts around 1–3 years.

• Light clenching: possibly 2–3 years or longer
• Moderate grinding: approximately 1–2 years
• Heavy bruxism: sometimes only 6–12 months

Wear your nightguard every night for the entire time you sleep. Consistency is important because grinding can occur without you realizing it.

• Insert it after brushing and flossing.
• Drink only cool water while wearing it.
• Remove it when eating and clean it each morning.

For a PETG or hard nightguard:

1. Rinse immediately after removal using cool or lukewarm water.
2. Gently brush it with a separate soft toothbrush and mild, unscented liquid soap.
3. Rinse thoroughly, then let it air-dry completely.
4. Store it in a clean, ventilated case—not a sealed container while wet.

If your TrueFit Smile nightguard doesn’t fit properly, don’t force it into place or attempt to heat, trim or reshape it yourself.

A new nightguard may feel snug, but it should seat completely and shouldn’t cause significant pain. Contact us so we can review the fit and determine whether an adjustment, replacement or new impression is needed.

Tell us if you’ve recently had dental work, orthodontic treatment or tooth movement. Stop wearing it and consult a dentist if it causes persistent tooth or jaw pain or changes how your bite comes together.
