A good-quality custom sports guard generally lasts:

• Adults with occasional use: around 1–3 years
• Frequent or high-impact athletes: often one season to one year
• Children and teenagers: check every six months and commonly replace each season because their teeth and jaws are changing
• Boil-and-bite guards: typically 3–12 months

Contact TrueFit Smile to order a replacement sports guard. If your saved dental model is still current and your teeth haven’t changed, we may be able to make another guard without requiring new impressions.

New impressions may be needed if you:

• Had dental work or orthodontic treatment
• Have growing or shifting teeth
• Notice your previous guard no longer fits properly
• Are ordering after an extended period

Clean your sports guard after every use:

1. Rinse it thoroughly with cool water.
2. Gently brush it using a soft toothbrush and mild liquid soap.
3. Rinse away all soap.
4. Let it air-dry completely before storing it.
5. Keep it in a clean, ventilated protective case.
6. Use a mouthguard-cleaning tablet occasionally, following its directions.

Avoid toothpaste, boiling or hot water, dishwashers, bleach and alcohol-based mouthwash—they can scratch, weaken or distort the material.

If your TrueFit Smile sports guard doesn’t fit properly, stop using it and contact us right away. Don’t force it into place or attempt to heat, trim or reshape it yourself.

We’ll review the fit and determine whether an adjustment, replacement or new impression is needed. Please let us know if you’ve had recent dental work, orthodontic treatment or tooth movement since taking your impressions. A properly fitted sports guard should remain securely in place without needing to bite down continuously.
